Fig & Olive

Bf was at work today.
So was out alone.
Wanted to be adventurous and try something that i've not tried before.
I remember seeing this place when i was there with bf. He wasn't interested. But i like the thought of mediterranean, olive, lotsa herbs and peace.

This place is nestled at the markesh area in Sunway Pyramid.
Definitely not loud for attention. Even the inside of the restaurant had been subtly hidden for more privacy. Just the way i like it.

Not bustled with lotsa patrons. I guess you could have easily missed this place.
Anyhow, am glad i finally tried it out today.

The interior is quite cozy.

I love this wall. Gonna have my future kitchen wall painted just like this!

The partition that provided some privacy to the diners.

My morning caffeine kick. I like how the syrup is given separately. U get to decide how much sugar goes into your drink and eventually to your waistline :)

My figo cypruss steak. Was a teeny weeny disappointed. Had expected the steak to be thicker than this. Nevertheless, with the price I'm paying, i guess it's reasonable. I love the marinate and herbs and everything about this steak. The only setback was the beef was too tough. If it is tender and more succulent, it would've been perfect.

The mandatory greens that lessen the guilt of chowing so much meet.

Steaks comes with either olive rice or pasta. I opted for the rice. It is really aromatic. Very much like briyani. Despite my resolution to reduce intake of rice, i found myself chowing down more than 3/4 of the rice. Yummilicious!

The maxi that i wore today. Love the prints.

Ok, that concludes my happy outing for today. Have a good weekend.

Aglio Olio

Or "Ugly Olio" as christened by him.

Made this for dinner last night. Yummilicious factor is hiiiiiighhh~~~

It's really simple to cook.

This is how i did mine.
Cook spaghetti until they are al-dente.
Heat olive oil at medium heat.
Put in chopped garlic and stir fry for a while. Do not let it brown.
Add in dried chillies (seeds removed) and yellow capsicum. Stir fry. Dried chillies amount depends on how spicy you like.
Add in a dash of salt.
Add in seafood. I put shrimp and squids. Do not cook for too long or the squid will end up really tough and rubbery.
Sprinkle some black pepper.
Sprinkle mixed herbs liberally. Mmmm..i love the smell of mixed herbs~
Put in the cooked spaghetti and mix until they are well coated with the olive oil.
Tadaa..it's ready.

Turkish Delight

Finally!

Had a chance to try turkish delight.
First came across this confectionery in The Chronicles of Narnia.
Have been wanting to try it out.

Tadaa..
This was what I bought.
Was at Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara last night. Went into Village Grocer to check out the stuff. Love the things there. Most are imported and it's really fun checking out things that you don't usually find anywhere else.

Well, turkish delight is actually a jelly-ish kinda thing. Really sweet and had "perfume-like" smell.
Found in wikipedia that most are made with rose water. That probably explains the perfume smell.

Apparently the premium versions are made with either dates, pistachios, almonds etc. Saw the pistachio version in a middle eastern shop but did not have the courage to try. Doesn't look very appealing.

Anyway, it's fun trying something new but would not buy it again.

Hokkaido Ichiba

Trip to Mid Val has became a weekly routine for us.

This week is no exception.

Had dinner at a new japanese restaurant in Mid Val.

Verdict:
Waiting period: Approx 30-40 mins with 3 tables before us
Food: 6/10
Service: 6/10 Foreigners provide much better service than the locals
Price: 6/10

Nothing to shout about.

May not be going back again. Would still prefer Sushi Zanmai/ Rakuzen/ Kinpachi.

Some photos for your delight.

1. Forgot what nabe. (~RM 48)
It's basically oyster in spicy miso soup base hot pot.

3. Ramen (~RM 16.80)
4. Unagi+Omelette Don (~RM 18)

Price is only an estimation. Forgot the exact price.
